Shop mobility is a scheme for people with limited mobility - through permanent or temporary disablement, illness, accident or age to shop and use other facilities within Cambridge.

By providing mobility aids manual wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

There are two Shop Mobility offices in Cambridge.

Grand Arcade → Shop Mobility

Based on the ground floor of Grand Arcade car park, first right at the entrance. The site provides easy access to the city centre, Grand Arcade and John Lewis.

Grafton Centre →

Based on the 4th floor of the Grafton East car park, entrance on East Road. The site provides easy access to the Grafton Centre, Fitzroy and Burleigh Street.

Both Shopmobility offices are open Monday to Saturday, 10am–4pm.

Please check the Service Updates page for news of changes to opening hours due to bank holidays or other reasons.

Only the Grafton office is open Sundays, 11am–4pm.

If you are arriving by bus, park and ride or taxi please note we can meet customers from the bus station and bus stops.

Bookings
To make sure that a suitable mobility aid is available telephone the centre you wish to use. Both have a 24 hour answerphone which operates outside office hours.

There is no charge for using the mobility aids, although we accept donations.

Please note proof of your name and address is required before a mobility aid will be issued. You will also be required to sign a simple form for insurance purposes.

If you are unfamiliar with using an electrically powered chair or scooter, a member of staff will show you how it works. When you are both confident and happy you can use it then away you go.

You do not need to be a Blue Badge holder to use this scheme.

Escort Service

An escort service is available for wheelchair users and the visually impaired for up to two hours. You need to book in advance for this service. Escorts are available in both centres, Monday to Friday from 10am-4pm.

Inside the Shop Mobility office at the Grafton Centre

The Shopmobility computer database management system is being upgraded. As a result we will need to re-register all our customers, to ensure that our information is up-to-date.
Staff will start to collect this information over the next couple of weeks.

Changing Places Toilets

A Changing Places toilet is situated in Shop mobility, Grand Arcade. It contains a shower, hoist, changing bed and toilet.

The key for this is available from Shop mobility during its opening hours given at the top of the page. Alternatively a key can be obtained from the car park customer services office at the following times:

• 8am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday
• 10am to 5pm, Sunday
